Departing from Waterbeach Station at 11am (9 mins from Cambridge Train Station) or King’s Parade, Cambridge at dawn
Arriving at Ely Cathedral at 17.30 for Evensong
This event welcomes anybody who is interested in exploring the ancient practice of Pilgrimage. This is an initiative by the Temenos Young Scholars and follows the successful inaugural pilgrimage of last spring. The route follows part of the beautiful ‘Fen Rivers Way’ trail and the River Cam. While keeping the same destination and main start location as the previous route, this pilgrimage showcases a variation on the trail as well as the option of starting the walk at King’s Parade, central Cambridge, at dawn.
The Pilgrimage has two start locations, the earlier offered to inhabitants of Cambridge and the later one for those getting the train to Waterbeach. The ‘early leg’ is envisaged as a prelude to the main walk and consists of a river trail from Kings Parade to Waterbeach (2:15 hour walking time). The main start location is just outside Waterbeach Station (9 mins by train from Cambridge station) with a departure time of 11 am. We will arrive in time for Evensong at Ely Cathedral at 17:30.
