Saturday 17 February
Departing at midday from Waterbeach Station (9 mins from Cambridge train station)
Arriving at Ely Cathedral at 17.30 for Evensong
This new initiative led by the Temenos Young Scholars is open to anybody interested in exploring the ancient practice of pilgrimage. The proposed route is part of the popular ‘Fen Rivers Way’ trail and will consist of an eleven-and-a-half mile long walk that follows the river Cam across the fenlands between Cambridge and Ely. Although it is a relatively recent walking route, it is a beautiful trail that calls out to be walked as a modern-day pilgrimage.
The pilgrimage will depart at midday from Waterbeach station (9 mins by train from Cambridge station) and arrive in time for Evensong at Ely Cathedral at 17.30. Walking time will total around four hours and fifteen minutes and there will be plenty of time to take breaks and enjoy the natural beauty of The Fens.
